All India Medical Counselling & Admission – FAQs

The All India Quota (AIQ) refers to 15% seats in government medical and dental colleges filled through a centralized counselling process at the national level. These seats are open to candidates from all states irrespective of domicile, ensuring equal opportunity. AIQ counselling is conducted by MCC under DGHS, allowing students to compete nationally for top colleges. It ensures transparency, merit-based allocation, and standardized admission procedures across participating institutions.
AIQ NEET UG counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. MCC manages the entire online process for 15% AIQ seats, central universities, deemed universities, and other institutions. It includes registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting. The process is designed to maintain fairness, transparency, and merit-based admission based on NEET ranks.
The AIQ counselling process involves registration, fee payment, choice filling, locking of choices, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted college. Candidates must carefully select preferences as allotment depends on choices, rank, and availability. After seat allotment, candidates can accept the seat, opt for upgradation, or participate in further rounds. Document verification is mandatory during reporting to confirm admission and secure the allotted seat.
AIQ NEET counselling typically includes four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. The first two rounds are conducted online, while mop-up fills vacant seats after Round 2. The stray vacancy round is conducted at the college level. Candidates who do not secure a seat initially can participate in later rounds, subject to eligibility rules set by MCC and governing authorities.
Candidates must qualify NEET UG with the required cutoff percentile to participate in AIQ counselling. They should have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English. Minimum qualifying marks in PCB subjects are required as per category norms. Indian citizens, NRIs, and certain other eligible categories can apply. Eligibility conditions may vary slightly depending on the institution and quota.
